''..........Family of 5, 3 eating adult meals. Not our first time here, very good food, large selection. been a bank hoilday Monday , one item was off menu. Looked after children very well. Lovely well priced NZ wine. Place was packed but so many staff no delays. Even time to be training a new server with one on one attention from an experienced colleague. We loved it. ’’...

''..........Have eaten here many times, and never been disappointed. Great atmosphere, wonderful service and lovely food. Definitely check the daily menu - usually has delicious range of fresh fish. Was part of a group pf 33 the evening of a very busy bank holiday sunday. You would never have known it! It was as if the kitchen had just opened, the food was so fresh, hot and beautifully presented. Well done, Wicklow Heather! ’’...

''..........I was here recently for a meal with my boyfriend. It was a very romatic Saturday evening. We went for a walk in Glendelough and for dinner here after. The place is so atmospheric, I really had a great time. The food was second to done and it was very good value. I did hear if you want to go on a Sunday you need to book. I cant wait to go again- I might even bring all the family’’...

''..........Booked for 14 adults and three babies on Sunday 25 Jan. Sunday is a very busy day but the staff were wonderful, anticipating our needs, especially the babies. Great variety on the menu. The salmon and corned beef were particularly good and the warm chocolate brownie dessert was heavenly. The service was excellent, the atmosphere was buzzing. A great experience. No sign of a recession here’’...

''.......... I love this restaurant, have eaten here since I was a child when we went on day trips to Wicklow. I moved to the area 2 years ago & any chance we get we eat here. Food is delicious & fresh. We took my parents here in November for my Dads birthday & they loved it. Staff is fantastic & always cheerful’’...

''.......... I visited the Wicklow Heather in the run up to Christmas and I was absolutely delighted , it was outstanding. I was visiting Glendalough and stopped off from a lovely walk - initially attracted by the beautifully decorated exterior.

It was just getting dark outside and the place looked so christmassy and festive. Inside the decor was even nicer - again lovely Christmas lights and soft jazzy christmas music not the usual tacky music to be heard in a lot of restaurants at this time of year.

The service was fantastic - there appeared to be some Christmas lunches going on and the place was quite busy but despite this we were not kept waiting for anything. I had gorgonzola tartlet which is not something you see on every menu these days. I then had sea bass as a main which was equally delicious. My partner decided to be festive and have turkey and ham - again this was not the usual mass produced run of the mill to be found in many restaurants at this time of year. It was delicious and definitely home cooked.

My son was delighted with the choice on the kiddies menu which included pasta and pizza . The portions were ample and we could not face dessert, despite being tempted. My son had the chocolate brownie which he declared to be the best he had ever tasted and he's an expert! Our meal was really good value in my opinion it was great food at a really affordable price. We will definitely be back. our waiter was really friendly and could not do enough for us. and the owner, I presume that's who she was, offered us a drink or coffee on the house for Christmas. Now this I do not even get in my local pub !! Keep up the good work. We will be back’’...

''..........5 Stars all the way with a well thought out menu for every member of our group including the kids. A fantastic setting, beautifully decorated restaurant, we were greeted and cared for throughout by the nicest and friendliest of staff.

Betty the manager was just lovely and took time to have a chat even though the restaurant was buzzing. Everybody without exception enjoyed wonderful freshly cooked food, the deserts are simply to die for... as absolute foodies, this is a restaurant find not to be kept a secret if you are looking for excellence, quality, value and great service with a genuine smile.

We all agreed we will all be coming back to the Wicklow Heather as a group and individually.

Thank you Betty and all your staff for providing a truly enjoyable experience’’...

''..........I was taken to lunch here on Saturday and it was really lovely. It was really busy but the waiting staff went out of their way to organise us a table outside in the sunshine. We had the smoked chicken salad with delicious homemade brown bread All served up to us really quickly. Everything was really fresh and tasty and the portions were quite big. The place has a great atmosphere. Loved it!!’’ ...

''..........The Wicklow Heather.... a beautiful classic restaurant situated near Glendalough has become one of my favourite restaurants for its excellent menu and value for money. Very friendly waitress Aoife a local who always serves with a smile. The Beautiful Fillet steak followed by brown bread ice-cream... Perfect!!’’ ...

''..........I went there last, Sunday 21/09/08 after a lovely drive to Glendalough. I didn't know about this restaurant till I saw it on Menupages, so I had to try it. Next time I will book a table as it was very busy but saying that we were seated quickly service was excellent but the food! my party of 3 had the soup it was delicious followed by corn beef and cabbage with parsley sauce that was to die for. My other colleagues had the Lamb "it was traditional fair" but beautiful I would recommend this restaurant to any one! O by the way the toilets with the lovely scent of lilies and candles that met me was the icing on the cake ’’...

''.......... Went for dinner here after a long drive around the Wicklow hills, completely unplanned so was really really really pleasantly surprised. The Waiting staff were lovely and very accommodating. The food was gorgeous! I had the Paté to start and then the Salmon and it really was 'perfect'! The atmosphere was lovely and the layout of the room was brilliant - lovely little private tables in an otherwise open plan room. WELL WORTH a vist. Great value too! :)’’ ...

''.......... Went here for Sunday lunch recently. Hadn't been in a while. Place was busy as ever. Many new waiting staff, mostly non-Irish and very friendly and efficient. This was never gourmet eating and doesn't try to be but it does an excellent job of feeding huge numbers in a very satisfactory manner without frills and at a reasonable cost. Service was brisk, the food was generous and tasty. Won't leave it so long next time’’ ...

''.......... This is my favourite place to eat! Its a long drive for us (about 40 minutes) but so worth it! It is always so cosy and the staff are excellent. My favourite is the goats cheese salad to start, then the fillet steak, it's perfect, with the garlic potatoes. We have never had a bad meal there’’ ...

''.......... Extensive menu - plenty of choice to suit any palate. Loved the pate. Good value for money. The staff are very friendly and nothing is too much for them. Great before or after a walk in Glendalough’’ ...

''.......... We visited one Saturday night and found the restaurant busier than expected for a cold winter's evening in a small village quite a distance from any large centre of population. However it wasn't overcrowded and the very pleasant waitress was most attentive.

We were all pleased with our choices and would definitely recommend the venison sausage. This comes as a starter only but could certainly form the basis of an excellent main course. We would have no hesitation in recommending it to others’’ ...

''.......... This is one of my favourite restaurants, especially after a walk around the lakes or a hard hike. The atmosphere is warm along with the service. I would recommend the veg soup any day of the week’’ ...

''.......... This restaurant was very warming on arrival. They were very accommodating since we didn't have a reservation. The service was excellent and also the food. Great prices for great food. We had a party of six and everyone was delighted with the food!! Well worth a visit’’ ...

‘’.......... Lovely food, great atmosphere. Great place to go after a nice walk up the lakes. Make sure and book though cause it gets very packed at weekends.’’

‘’........... This restaurant is perfectly placed in a place of natural beauty and breath-taking surroundings. It has two large dining areas but it can become very packed on weekends. Try to get a table in the cozy Reader's Corner. Service is fast and friendly. Food is typical Irish, but with quality ingredients, well cooked and nicely presented’’...
